Music stores in Vienna

Can anyone suggest any real good music stores in Vienna. Stores that sell instruments and sheet music not records. Also
if you now of any in Prague and Munich please let me know.
Thanks,
Mike

When I was a student in Vienna many years ago, the largest music store was Doblinger in Dorotheergasse.

I do know of some in Prague as I always buy sheet music when there -- it is a lot cheaper for European editions of Eastern and Central European composers, such as Suk, Martinu, Dvorak, Janacek, Bartok, etc.

I go to Talacko Music for sheet music in the Josefov area of Prague 1, the address is Rybna 29. There is also a large musical instrument store nearby called Praha Music Center at Revolucni 14. I'm don't know if they have a good sheet music selection. If by any chance you know some Czech, they have a web site www.pmc.cz

By the way, try also asking this on the newsgroups, if you haven't done so. Or search the archives there. One way to access them is by groups.google.com . The rec.music.classical.* groups are extremely informative, and the people there are a very helpful bunch (well, assuming you want to know about classical).

In Prague, there is another sheet music store (which my friend in the Czech Philharmonic says is the best.) It is on Ujezd in Mala Strana. I don't have the name, (I can find out, if you want), but once you cross over the "Most Legii" - one bridge south of the Charles - it is on the Southwest corner of Ujezd and Vitezna (on the side of Petrin Hill). I know they are closed on Sundays, and may have reduced hours in the summer. Again, they have a huge classical selection, so if you need a different genre, you may not find it there..

I think that one AM mentions must be Capriccio. They publish and have a retail outlet. Here are the two addresses for classical sheet music:

Capriccio, Újezd, 118 00, Praha 1
Talacko, Rybná 29, 110 00, Praha 1

What kind of music are you looking for? That musical instrument store on Revolucni sells guitars so probably has contemporary or pop/rock stuff. They sell digital keyboards, too.
