That's funny, where I live PBS is doing a retrospective to disco for a fundraiser. Actually, I always thought disco was a lot of fun, I lived in LA at the time and had a boyfriend in West Hollywood and it brought back a lot of good memories of going to all those discos. those were the days... burn baby burn

All I can say, Ira, is that I'm glad Marcy and I are going to Paris next month! My husband and I missed going to this museum in September and it's on the list. I'm going to definitely make the time to visit it before the hordes of Rick Steves followers crowd everyone else out (like they've done with Cinque Terre and more). Thanks for the timely "warning."

Margie,
Do you by any chance see PBS via KVIE? Your comment about Lawrence Welk really struck home--I read with hunger the good programs on the national PBS broadcast, and then we get infomercials and Lawrence Welk and good-living gurus instead. What a bore.

I had read about Musee Jacquemart on this board before our trip to Paris last year. We visited and also had lunch. It was delightful.
I am planning a trip for March and was just thinking that I would like to find a "new" similar place for this year...any ideas?

give me a break! Rick Steves discovering the 5 Terre - it was a mecca for Italians forever - how many Steves clones can be there on any given day? The 5 Terre was discovered by Americans not because R Steves talked about it - i heard how neat it was way before i even heard of Steves. the Amalfi Coast is similar - recently 'discovered' by Yanks. Give me a break you'all give Rick Steves too much credit. Good things sell themselves, others go there and then use forums like this or word of mouth to tell others. I.E. I think the Jacko-Andre is safe for a while. If it becomes overcrowded it's more because how neat it is. I have nothing against Rick Steves but just get REAL.

I enjoyed wandering the rooms upstairs..and the gift shop
We always said we would go back and have tea in that lovely room.
Dln, you two have to go! But we had to take cabs, it was a little hard for us to manage to get to by bus or train.

Underhill, my PBS is coming to me via WCNY. Every time there is a fundraiser they drag out hours and hours of Welk. Friday's "Lawrence Welk Family Christmas" was followed up by the incredibly exciting (not!) "In Concert Classics Featuring Dionne Warwick". Needless to say, I would have loved to have seen the Musée Jacquemart-André instead.

Well the Cinque Terra in the 70's was wonderful. Since RS enough said. I had a grandson who was an exchange student there recently. After a few months he "exchanged" himself up to Turin. He could not take all the tourist with their RS books. It gives us a good laugh, except it is not really funny.
