Munich - What to see during the day while attending Oktoberfest?
I'm wondering what would be the most worthwile sites to visit during the 2 days between my evening drinking sessions in the beer tents.
I am interested in seeing some of the older parts of the city, or perhaps a castle if there are one or two close to the downtown area.
Any help is appreciated.

In and near Munich you can visit Schloss Nymphenburg, Schlosss Blutenberg, and Schloss Schleissheim. If you want to venture farther afield you can see the fabled Neuschwanstein and several other of "Mad" Ludwig's castles.

We had a similar amount of time while at Oktoberfest last year.
We visited the Olympiapark which we found very cool. Also went to the BMW museum and hubby enjoyed checking out all the cars. We checked out the Englischer Gartens - Nice, but I'm never crazy about gardens and parks. Just walking around the central area of town (Marienplatz), hopping on the trolley, having lunch at the Hofbrauhaus, and checking out the Glockenspiel made for a really nice afternoon.

Dachau camp outside Munich
The big park in the center of Munich. Great people watching place.
Bike tours around the city. You can rent the bike and organize the trip at the train station. 1/2 day trip are available. I think it called Bike with Mike
You can go outside of Munich and do the monastery and the great Andechs
beer and hamhocks that they serve there.
Take a 45 minute train ride down into Bayerische Zell. Have lunch and get back. Train runs every hour each way. Absoluitely wonderful small town that so few even know about
Take the train and go the Brewery on the Tegernsee. The brewery is from the year 800. Some of the best beer and authentic German atmosphere as you'll find anywhere in Germany. Do lunch along the Tegernsee
Check out all the churches in the down town area
You can go to the Hofbrauhaus in downtown Munich or to the Augustiner beer graden, (I think it the one that is so popular right down from the train station.)
