Munich weekly Isar card

We're going to be spending a week in Munich and are interested in the weekly Isar cards.

We will be arriving at the main hauptbahnhof, and I have read they can be purchased here in an MVV Shop.

This station is very large. Can you help with exactly where the shop might be located?

Thanks so much.

Hi Swisshiker! So now it's Munich, is it?

I can just see you surfing on the Isar in your board shorts!

I don't know where that shop is, but maybe you can find it on the station map:

And lots more information about shops and services at the station at

Well, hello to you too, enzian. Long time no hear!!

The map is exactly what I needed. Found the MVV logo, so that's where I'll go on arrival. Perfect!

We're flying next week to Frankfurt, then Berlin, Leipzig, Dresden, Nurnberg, Munich, and so on. Four weeks! Haven't done a "train only" trip in a few years.

Thanks again!

Well, that didn't come out right.

Meant to say...
...we're flying into Frankfurt, then traveling by train the rest of the way.

Ahhhh, sounds like a great trip! I've only been to Berlin and Munich, but both are amazing---so much to do and see. I could spend days just at the Deutaches Museum alone.

Be sure and bring a blindfold your husband can apply if you are walking thru the "nude" zone at the Englischer Garten. Or maybe it will be too cold for there to be much on display.

>weekly Isar cards.
Any newspaper kiosk in the station or the debit card operated MVV vending machines at most stations. Any Deutsche Bahn ticket vending machine in the station. There will be a sign in the window of the shop if they sell those tickets. Never found that to be a problem, except for later evenings in suburbia.

Nope, you won't have a problem finding a place to buy a ticket (Isar card included) at Munich central station. ;-)

Just decide how many rings you need before you approch the machine.

logos - thanks for that info. I remember reading somewhere on another travel site that the machines only take Deutschebank cards, at least as far as the weekly/monthly passes are concerned (not for the daily or 3-day tickets). Good to know that's not the case.

enzian - ha! But somehow I don't think cool weather will keep nude sun/cloudy bathers away.
