munich hotels

does anyone have a suggestion for a hotel in central Munich with air conditioning? We want to walk to Marienplatx and old town. We are older and will be going in mid July so need airconditioning.

Platzl Hotel has had good reviews here and I think has AC. Great central location for you, 4 minutes walk to Marienplatz.

$$-$$$ range? I loved the Hotel Wallis; at the time (1997) the rate was somewhat lower than the current rate, but it was a great place to stay: http://www.cosy-hotels.com/hotels/hotel-218.htm

There are dozens of recomendations for Munich hotels already posted. Does any one of them apeals to you?

Thanks Maria. Yes there are many hotels discussed on this site, and I can also find their location on my maps, but...it is almost impossible to find out which are air conditioned, a
must for my husband.

We are staying at the Acanthus, but I know it does not have air. It is in the Karen Brown guide on their web site, which also shows another hotel near Marienplatz that DOES have air, Hotel Torbrau.

http://www.karenbrown.com/germany/de...sso?RecID=1516

The snow flake means air. Hotel Torbrau sounds great (it was higher than the price range we wanted but I think anything with air is going to be higher). In one of the comments made by a guest it mentions that it is 2 block from the glockenspiel! hope this may help!

Humanone,

We stayed at the Torbreau. Very nice and VERY well located for your needs.

Here is a link to the Munich Tourist Office. Click on Accommodation and it will list many hotels broken down by areas of the city. You might want to check out the one's you can and email the Hotels you might be inerested in.

My message posted before I was through previewing my reply. Sorry for a particular sentence structure and the mis-spelled word "interested".

I reserved a room at Priceline.com for 3 nights. I bid 58USD and the hotel is the Rennaisance. They also use the Marriot for their 5 star. Must have AC!!!

Both Marriott and Renaissance are totally inappropriate given the request - they are certainly not an easy walk to the centre- try 40 minute walk, so do not waste your time checking them out.

The Platzl is NOT air conditioned..at least it wasn't last August! Cute and quaint but not A/C'd.
On the other hand, the Munich City Hilton is air conditioned and you can RIDE to the Marienplatz in five minutes.

Thanks all; I did finally find a hotel, with air conditioning, near the railroad station, even with parking.
Its is the drei Lowen. I had been looking for it under the corporation name of Reinbold, and found I could book it either with Utell or Travelocity with rates for two $100-$150Euros.
Anybody have experience with it?
