Munich Hauptbahnhof Station?

A question, because I don't know anything about this train station....I have 15 minuites .to get from platform 11 to platform 28 - is that enough time so I don't miss my train connection?

Look here:

http://www.nshispeed.nl/en/stations/...n_maps_germany

Click on your station farther down on the page. You should be ready, by the door with your luggage when the train pulls into the station, so you can be first off. You should be able to get to platform 28 with no problem as long as your train is on time.

I had a similar transfer, but the arriving train was late and I had only 9 minutes to make a connection. I walked VERY briskly to make the connection. To improve your odd, when you are 15 min or so from the Munchen station, make yourself through the train to the front of train as possible unless you are already at the head of the train. If you wait too long, other people who have listened the previous posters will have piled their luggage and you cannot get to the front car. If you traveling heavy, like with 26" luggage or larger, then this strategy would not work well.

And if you miss your connection can you use your Bayern ticket for the next available train?

Platform 11 to 28 is about four minutes if you walk slowly.

Correct as long as it is a train you're allowed to ride so no IC or ICE for you.

FIVE minutes before arrival to station yourself near the doorway is probably when everybody ELSE will start doing the same thing so be ready.

If your train is ALMOST on time you will still make this connection and please do not forget that those platform assignments sometimes change SO when you DO get off look at the departures board to make certain of where your departing train actually IS.

This map may allay your fears and will tell you in which direction you have to head for - http://www.railteam.eu/de/fur-ihre-r...-hauptbahnhof/. 15 min is alot of time if your train arrives on time.

I can confirm that this will happen. It always happens.

Thank you all so very much for all your responses to ALL my questions that I have posted on Fodor's. It has really, really helped me to plan my vacation in Germany and to ease my fears about travelling on trains.....something that I have only done 2 times in the USA.

Train travel is great in Europe. You will enjoy it. If you don't have a tight connection just sit tight and wait for the others to get off the train. When you do have a tight connection just be prepared by the door.

Be sure to double check the information boards posted as you exit the train, as this will have the latest platform info for your connection, just in case it has changed for any reason. This will avoid you getting down to platform 28 only to find out the train has been redirected to platform 4!
