Munich

Hi All

I would need some help here.

It will be my first trip to Munich. I would like to know which will be the places that is accessible to stay in. What are the places that we must visit?

I will also be leaving for Paris after my stay Munich. Which high speed train services will be good?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Get a good guide book or look under Munich here on the Fodors website for a list of things to see that are in your interest areas in Munich. Check at the train station ticket windows for your connections to Paris.

There are lots and lots of hotels of all classes in the main train station area. That is within walking distance of Marienplatz, the central part of Munich. There you will be near the Frauenkirche, Rathaus, Glockenspiel, Alte Peter Kirche, Viktualien Markt, Hofbrau Haus, Residence and a lot more. Enjoy your stay in Munich.

To check for train schedules, the German RR website is excellent. Notice how many stops there are. If you don't want any stops then choose the trains with "0" stops:

http://www.bahn.com/i/view/index.shtml

On the rest of your questions, we need more information: what is your budget for your hotel? Will you have a car or will be completely dependent on public transportation to get to your hotel? What are your interests or do you want to just hit the highlights of Munich? How many of you are travelling? Any children? How long do you plan to stay in Munich?

That looks like a long way out of central Munich - looks like you'd have to take a local bus to pick up the S-Bahn at Freising.

Buses covering Haag (top right of the map):

S-Bahn (S1 at the top of the map):

Usually, every location has its pros and cons
But this one is so far away from Munich and so poorly accessible by public transport that using this location as a base to visit Munich (without having a car) is totally insane.

I agree - it there any way you can cancel this reservation and stay someplace more central? You are looking at an hour commute into central Munich (each direction). And because you will be dependent on a bus as well as the S-bahn, I suspect that there will be limited runs in the evenings and at night, so you'll have to get home early or take a taxi from Freising.

Check VRBO.com - there are some places that look like they would work for you and are in Munich itself.

Cancellation policy for this particular booking: "strict".

Which means the OP loses 1/2 of the total money deposited plus the cleaning fee plus the airbnb fee.

Believe OP is stuck with this particular booking.

ryenkei: did you not check the map on airbnb to see where this booking is?

Also make sure to look at the cancellation policy before booking. "Flexible" is best.

Good luck with better bookings!
