I am looking at the web page for the Moulin Rouge, and it looks like the tickets for the 11pm show are 85 Euros each, the 9pm show is 95 Euros, and this is not including dinner. Has anyone seen this show? Is it worth the money? Thanks.

It is not something that I would spend money on.

If its something you really, really want to do, then go ahead. Don't come back to the USA feeling your trip was incomplete. However, ....

I'm with ira and would not spend my own money on it. Having somebody else pay for it was the best option for me.

I just returned Friday from what I think (I may have lost count) was my 65th trip to France and Paris. I have never set foot in the Moulin Rouge and don't feel that I have missed out on anything that Paris has to offer. Even if it were 8.5 euros I doubt I'd go, and I certainly wouldn't go for dinner. I have gone to Au Lapin Agile a couple of times and enjoyed that immensely (though you really do need to have good French to do so,IMO, and it's a very different type of cabaret experience). That said, it's your trip, and you're free to make your own decisions. Whatever you decide, enjoy Paris!

Thanks for the input. I wasn't completely sold on the idea, but I wanted to find out if I would be missing a really great show. It sounds like I would not. Thanks for saving me the money and time.

All I can say is if you want to see the show then it's worth the money. It is a very expensive show and even so if you get a dinner/show package.

I saw the show earlier in the year. It was not my idea to go as I don't care for these type of shows. And I didn't think I would ever attend one. But I accompanied someone who likes these types of shows so I went. I was surprised that the show is actually a variety show and it was pretty good.

P M, we didn't attend the show, but our hotel was not far from the Moulin Rouge. We walked past late one night after a stroll in Montmarte, and I never saw such a crush of people and tour busses in my life. One show had just ended and people were lined up for the next. It was a mob scene of tourists and tour guides. We counted nearly a dozen huge tour busses on the street! You couldn't have gotten us to partake in that experience if you had handed us tickets for free.

I am honestly bewildered as to how you can decide that you wouldn;t like this show after hearing from people who HAVEN'T SEEN it!

I love the euphemism "this type of show" rather than simply telling us what sort of "type" the show really is.

Perhaps you could find a description somewhere and then decide if it is your "type" or not.

Ira, I took your advice and did a search on Moulin Rouge, and I can see that some people like it and some don't, although most everyone agrees the dinner is no good. I will be travelling with my Dad/stepmom, so I will pass on to them what I have learned today, then we will all decide what to do. This will be thier first trip to Paris and at their age, possibly their last. If they want to do this, I will go along with them. Thanks to everyone.

I'm not sure I would want to see it for 95 Euros. It wasn't nearly that expensive 10-12 years ago. Are you sure those prices aren't with dinner?

Not sure if the 95 euro is with dinner. The dinner/show cost for the Toulouse Lautrec dinner I chose was over 100 euro/person though.

I just went on a ticket website, and the 11:00pm show with a 1/2 bottle of champagne (no dinner) is $109.

Well, it's about the same price for a half hour Gondola ride in Venice. They are both "touristy," almost silly, things to do that kind of "represent" their respective cities. But, if your parents have always associated Paris with "Moulin Rouge," it certainly is "worth it" to fulfill their curiosity and dream. Hey, you drop a small fortune whenever you travel, so you might as well do it up while you have the chance.
By the way, I did go to the show - about 20 years ago - but we found it unique, well-staged, and worth our time and money. I don't think I would go again because of the "been there done that" factor, but I am glad I went once.
