Hi Lisa,
The Vucciria market is fun, but I was a little disappointed that it was was so quiet and laid-back. The Ortigia market in old Siracusa was huge, bustling, colorful, crowded and cacophonous. Every kind of fish imaginable from the area, along with the freshest of vegetables and fruit were on display. I hope you are able to visit there.
Another memorable moment was an early morning before sunrise in Trescastagni when Etna boomed, sparks flew into the sky and simultaneously the church bells rang and all the neighborhood dogs barked.
Walking through the eerie, cobbled streets of Erice in the fog is memorable
... as was walking through Agrigento's Valley of the Temples at night.
And, climbing the fortress of Sperlinga at dusk while the fields below, which were being burned off, glowed red-orange. And ... picking figs, cooking with tons of rosemary, squeezing green oranges for breakfast ... uh oh, the memories are flooding in. I'd better end.

I thought the Vucciria & other markets in Palermo were wonderful. Have lunch on the terrace at Shangai overlooking the Vucciria, and a spleen bun at one of the other markets (can't remember its name).
Since it was on my honeymoon, though, my top moment (well, 8 days' worth of them) would have to be sitting with pre-dinner Negronis on steamer chairs outside the bar of the Hotel Raya on Panarea while the sun went down & the fireworks from Stromboli became visible (looking forward to 3 courses of the best seafood I've ever had ).

Sunbathing at the sea... my first glimpse of Mt. Etna crackling in the night skies...taking the boat from Giarre Riposto to Taormina..and my most memorable moment, spending time with my adopted Sicilian family.
