Moscow Hotels

I just started looking for hotels for our June trip to Copenhagen and Moscow (with a Baltic cruise in between). I am striking out in Moscow. I have looked at several of the hotels that I saw recommended here and there seems to be no availability anywhere for our dates. I have searched using Trivago, Trip Advisor, and Expedia. Again, nothing available. I am beginning to worry a bit. Either there is something going on those dates that I don't know about or it is too far in advance to book. Any advice? We are locked into our dates due to the cruise and our flights.

Looks like something is going on....alright
The hotels ar either sold out or incredibly expensive.
What are your dates?
I visited Moscow last summer and may be able to give you some input.

Yes, it's the World Cup, definitely.
If you are locked in - maybe look into some hotels located (much) farther away from the center - something like Holiday Inn Vinogradovo or smaller hotels in the suburbs? Does the cruise line offer an extension in Moscow? - given the availability issues, it might seem a reasonable option (in comparison, that is...)

Our dates are June 16-19 and we really don't have much wiggle room. We might be able to switch things around, but I don't think so. Guess I should have checked first.

FIFA
dates are June 14 to mid July.
Unfortunately, looks like nothing is available on many dates or the rooms are incredibly expensive.
( I was thinking about another visit in July.

I don't know your schedule, if posible , switch to St. Petersburg.
( it is 4 hours by train from Moscow)

Hopefully this link will work. There are matches in several cities, including St Petersburg. You can sort by city.

I see Russia is playing in St Petersburg on June 19. That will be quite the atmosphere.

We found a decent looking hotel that is a bit out of town (we'll probably be trying to arrange for a guide to pick us up at the hotel so that shouldn't be a problem) and we will just go with the flow! Should be a bit of an experience, if nothing else! We will be in St. Petersburg for 2 days on our Baltic cruise but decided to add on a few days in Moscow at the end before flying back to Florida. The flight schedules worked better to do Moscow at the end of the trip rather than the beginning so we will just be flexible and make it work!

I can see some of the posters here fainting at this advice. But give some thought to visiting the fan zone in Moscow. There are games on the 16th,17th and 19th and the zone will be filled with people, colours and flags from all over the world:

We just might have to check out the fan zone. Not sure when we'll be near a World Cup again!

Hotel Delta (Russian 4 star)at Izmailovo is showing availability on their website at $917 for the 3 nights. I'd rather stay there than somewhere a bit out of town, this hotel is on the metro (Partizenskaya and Izmailovo)

Thanks, but the room I got is nonrefundable. I think it will be fine. And $300/ night is a little more than we wanted to spend. I'd rather spend it on sightseeing.

You will be fine as your hotel is close to Prospekt Mira and VDNKh/Monument to the Conquerors of Space/Ostankino Park & TV tower which might be on your list of things to see in Moscow. I imagined a bit out of town to mean a bit out of Moscow ie beyond the Moscow ring road.
