Hotels in Moscow, St Petersburg?
Just beginning the planning phase of a trip to these cities in summer, early fall 2008.
Anyone have any suggestions on lodging? And, any other advice you'd like to offer...

What is your price point?
In St Pet I've stayed at the Astoria (huge, very traditional, with large and somewhat eccentric rooms and a casino popular wih the local mafiosi.
And the Europa - situated right on Nevsky Prospekt - modern and luxe but very big $.
The key thing in St Pet is to stay right in the center - since some of the USSR regime era hotels in the outskirts are truly incredibly awful.

A couple of years ago we stayed at the Radisson SAS http://www.radissonsas.com/servlet/C...20Availability
Location was ideal walking distance to many places, on on Nevsky Prospect. Room was good, breakfast was very good. Don't miss the Lomonosov Store around the corner.
