SO and I are looking into honeymoon spots for Sept/Oct 2016. My parents went to Kotor (on a cruise) earlier this summer and said it was fantastic - quiet, not crazy expensive, lovely beaches. Would it be too cool for a beachy vacation by late September/early October? If so, anywhere similar you;d recommend?

Try looking up the stats at http://www.wunderground.com/. I imagine September would be great but not sure how quickly things change heading into October. Early September is perfect for Croatia.
I only got as far south as Budva, but I have read the beaches further south are much better. Kotor is in a bay, so not sure what beaches they were admiring.
It can be tough to get info on Montenegro. http://www.balkanology.com/montenegro/index.html provides an introduction.
I think the interior is probably the real stunner.

I am from Montenegro,and although I agree that Kotor is a beautiful city,it's known for its history and not its beaches.The timing might be a bit of for the sea side,the change of seasons might ruin your beach plans,if you decide to do so track as many weather stations as possible to decide will the climate be ok for your liking.In my personal opinion (keep in mind that as a local I can't be completely objective and that maybe something that I see as boring you would actually like simply because you are not used to it as I am) the best time to visit Montenegro is spring.

Hi. Wife & me are planning a similar trip in late September , around 26th September. We are confused between Kotor & Budva. We prefer a town that has beaches so I'm assuming Budva would be a better choice. However i had a few questions.
Will it be too cold for swimming?
Will bars /nightclubs be open at night at that time of the year?
We are planning 3 nights in Budva which includes a day trip to Kotor. Is that sufficient?

@akatop Budva reaches its peak in late july/beginning of august and everything slowly shuts down as september starts, it becomes more peaceful and nicer,but I'm not sure about the clubs,only a few of them will be open,but I think they'll be half empty in that time of the year.If you decide to visit,avoid Slovenska/Slovenian beach because of the sewer from the hotel and try Mogren beach (there's mogren 1 and mogren 2 which is much nicer in my opinion) and definitely go to the St.Nikola's island or Hawaii as people call it(taxi boat is only 3 euros) and use the bus to go to Becici which is right next to Budva and it takes only 15 minutes to get there,it's known among locals that their beaches are much much nicer.I don't know will it be too cold,it depends, our climate is very tricky, but it's more of a subjective feeling.
