Having looked at the Mobilis and the Paris Visite, I do not understand the difference. Would someone please tell me.

Thanks so very much,

Vic

Have you investigated the differences in terms of timeframes and what each one offers at the www.ratp.fr site?

Mobilis is a one day pass good on the metro, the RER and the buses in the zones for which it is purchased.

Paris Visite has the transportation noted above but also allows entry to some 2nd rate museums....

Paris Visite is a tourist rip-off.

Mobilis is not. That's why it (and the Carte Orange) are not described on the RATP's English language site.

Thanks Again Everyone. I could NOT find anything on the ratp english version of Mobilis. Now I will buy just that.

Thanks Robespierre, for the translation website and the Mobilis info in the first place.

For some reason, they don't list the Mobilis on the English web site. I don't know why, I guess they think it competes with the Paris Visite, but so do regular single tickets in a way, and they talk about them.

YOu can buy a Paris Visite for various amounts of time (1 day, 3 days, 5 days) and if you buy a 1-3 zone one, it is only a little more expensive than buying daily Mobilis for a 3 or 5 day one. It's still more expensive, but would be worth it if you intend to take the Open Tour bus (as you get 4 euro off) or go to Jacquemart Andre museum with someone else (as you get one free entry and it's not on the museum card, either). There are a few other places, also, but I think those may be the best. A 3-day Paris Visite is about 18 euro and the Mobilis is 5.3 euro for 1-2 zones (all you need) per day, or 16 euro so that's only a 2 euro difference. They used to include a good museum store discount on it, also, which was very good, but I don't think they do any more. For five days, the price ends up almost exactly the same, so I would buy the Paris Visite in that case (also you can use it to go to zone 3, which might possibly be useful -- the RER to La Defense is in that zone, but little else).

Ah, but if you are going to be in Paris for more than 2 days, then the Carte Orange is a better deal than either PV or Mobilis. The only catch is that it's valid Monday through Sunday, and you have to buy it before Thursday.

€15.40 for (up to) seven days ain't bad. Three days of Mobilis is €15.90, and three days of PV is €18.25
