"less" than what he is considering

Hmmm...and here I thought he was considering "modern contempory environments" and "a great hotel with clean contemporary architecture and accomodations".

To clarify what I meant by "less"....

anniv17 mentions staying at the Four Seasons but shows interest in a "great hotel "...
I assumed that this meant a 4* hotel that was comparable to the George V ..thus I mentioned the hotels that I did.

I'm in my late 40s and have been vacationing in Paris...almost annually...since the mid 70s...was just there a few months ago... and I TOTALLY agree with...tuscanlifeedit...about the George V-Four Seasons not being in the best location for a really atmospheric time and that Paris is more about NEIGHBORHOODS than about the hotel. Now, I'm one who absolutely adores the Four Seasons although I've never stayed in the one in Paris...the price is way ridiculous...I stay at the one in Bangkok,Thailand which is fabulous and between $138-$158 a night...for the most part...and..not the Paris price of well over $600 a night...the last time I checked Expedia out of curiosity. Anyhow, I have stayed in almost all the areas of Paris, but settled into the 6th district...St.Germain des Pres...around 1981 and will remain in that neighborhood until I'm a hundred probably...smiles... I think that Beatchick's recommendation of the Hotel Buci Latin...now the Artushotel...is an excellent choice. I lived, between 1981-about 2002, a couple of steps around the corner from the hotel Buci Latin...a different name back in the early 80s and $18.00 a night back then... personally to me that's "Atmospheric Paris" along with neighborhoods in the 5th and 7th which you could walk to.Plus, you have the best department store in Paris in the 7th...Bon Marche...and tons of the hip clothing/handbag/shoe boutiques/cafes etc.. in the 6th and 7th. The 16th district, on the right bank, is nice too but not close to the sights.Plus you have 10 days in Paris so WHY are you staying in the SAME hotel for 10 days?I would go stir crazy.I would check into the George V-Four Seasons for the first 5 days and explore the right bank and then check out and taxi over to the 6th and spend 5 days on the left bank with the down-to-earth folks and the atmosphere. Trust me...you'll have a ball! Happy Travels!

To clarify...when I stated that I "lived" in the neighborhood...I meant lived in hotels for various amounts of time while on vacation. I haven't been an actual resident of Paris. Sorry for the possible confusion. Happy Travels!

Check out the Bel Ami.
It is the embodiment of the new cutting-edge Paisian style with a dash of Asian minimalism. It is located at 7-111 rue saint Benoit in the 6th.

While on rue Benoit, have dinner at the Petit Benoit. A favorite of ours for years!
