missed train

If we buy our train tickets on an ES train w/reserved seats a couple of days in advance and happen to miss the train, can we exchange our tickets for another train provided there are available seats or are our tickets worthless?
Thanks

If you have a full fare ticket yes. If you have one of the online discount specials probably no.

always ask at station about this when buying.

You can change your date most likely before the day they are for. After as Palenq says better check when you buy them

HI P,

Why would you possibly miss the train?

Go to http://tinyurl.com/28uvnm for refund info.

We almost missed a train going from Rome to Milan. One of our two taxis got stuck in traffic. I remedmber getting a porter who quickly filled up a huge cart with our bags.
We all trotted to make the train by just a couple minutes.
That's the day I learned how much the "minimum tip" was for porters.
Ouch!

We purchased flexi-fare tickets to Florence in case our flight from the US is late getting into Milan. They allow us to switch to a later train if necessary.

Just buy the tickets when you get to the station - that's what I always do & it saves worrying abut getting there on time. Use a machine (English option available) & just buy tickets for the next fast-ish train - it's easy.
