Ira--If you don't see a contradiction, that speaks well for you. I hope you don't see a contradiction between hating anti-semitism and hating kosher slaughter as well.

clueless and jersey--I don't wear leather or eat meat, but you are willfully ignoring the posts that point out that animals for fur are boiled or skinned alive. It is a particularly cruel industry. And the idea that you can't fight for the well being of animals AND people at the same time is an illogical premise. The subject here is animals, not people. Duh.

>>3) I wish people would care more about and put their energy into helping their fellow human beings than animals.>>

The one does not preclude the other.
The opposite is true. From its earliest beginnings, it was the British Society for the Protection of Animals that began the first fight to stop child labour!

Illogical? What about the CA guy, who spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to fly animals out of New Orleans during Katrina when PEOPLE were stranded there? I rest my case

And quite a few of those people weren't able to take beloved pets with them--so rescuing the pets helped both humans and companion animals.

Don't be such a grinch.

clueless

There were many, many agencies and people helping people. It was not well organized and many people suffered from the result of that.

But that is no reason not to try to rescue some of the many pets left behind too.
