Milos or Mykonos
have rented a house on sifnos for a week in June had planned to go on to Santorini for a few days afterwards. rental ends on saturday and apparently the ferry connections are such that it would take two days to get to santorini so am now considering going to Milos instead or taking ferry back to athens at the end of the week and flying to mykonos have always wanted to visit mykonos or santorini but am not sure whether it would be better to try milos instead or go to the hassle of traveling back to athens and then flying to mykonos any thoughts anyone? anyone been to milos and loved it?

Too bad about Santorini, it's worth 2 days but YES to Milos...the view from town on top (Plaka) is gorgeous...for the best beaches however, u need car or scooter rental. I was there 1st week in June, it gets a young crowd, almost no Americans that time of year. What about Milos for 2 days, then take ferry to Serifos?
I avoided Serifos for years, hearing it was dry & dusty compared to green Sifnos, but went last June and LOVED it. Get off ferry and walk over hill to the left of harbor to Lifkadia beach -- go to Corelli Bungalows & Camping (no its not primitive--Bungalows are cute white semi-attached units each with porch), right ON the beautiful golden sand beach. SO peaceful...you walk into town of evening and eat on tables in the sand -- the port town is much less touristic than Kamari, Sifnos, very serene. The the high town (Chora) looms over the bay, and walking up & down is magic == the views from here rival any on Thira is my opinion, and in June you stand and gaze all on your own.
When you return to Athens (if you can tear yourself away) it's a daily 'slow' ferry and ditto fast ferry.
I won't discuss Mykonos unless you give a specific reason you want to see it. Most people who talk about Mykonos have been exposed to too many cruise brochures. A person who rents a house on Sifnos would not be happy in Mykonos.
Enjoy the beauty of the Western Cyclades!

Great information from travelerjan but don't close your mind to Mykonos.
Not having ever read a cruise brochure in my life I enjoyed Mykonos as well as the many other Greek islands I've been lucky enough to visit. Each island has its own character and some, only a few miles apart, can be so completely different. That's possibly why I've enjoyed them all.
