Military Tatoo, Edinburgh, Scotland

I have seen the Military Tatoo on television and am anxious to see it. Is it still as great as when I saw it? I believe its held in Edinburgh Castle.

It is not to be missed!
We stayed in Edinburg august 2007 for four days during festival.
You do not need an auto if you stay there. Walking in town and great transportation in the city.
Be advised all prices are doubled during that time.
Make reservations early for lodging and the Tattoo (check website for tickets - Glory days destination Edinburgh).

It is not in the Castle. But it is nearby.
The castle is a great backdrop for the Tattoo.
This was one of my favorite experiences ever.
I loved Edinburgh.

It is great. Try to get seats that face the castle rather than those on the sides.

If you want to attend this year, book ASAP. All weekend dates are sold out, as are some of the other nights. And most of the the nights that aren't booked up have limited availability.

But as others have pointed out it's rather busy in Edinburgh in August

thanks so much, I was afraid maybe it wouldn't be what I have imagined in my mind. It was THE one thing I wanted to see. Oh, actually everything on my trip to United Kingdom and Ireland is what I want to see. I am so excited, I can hardly wait. My first trip "abroad" and I'm 69 years old!!! I have always loved England and wanted to see all its wonders. this is included in our tour so we do have tickets already. It will be at the end of July, first of August. I thoroughly enjoy your website and all the info I have gleaned from where to have tea in London to what souveniers to purchase. thanks again to all.

Hope you come back to this thread. There are vendors on the site that rent cushions for the seats. Get them! The metal seats are cold and hard. Also bring a rain hat with you in case it rains; you can't have umbrellas during the concert.

Congratulations on your first trip; hope there are many more for you!

Oh - that is great that you already have your ticket -- you'll really enjoy it. But do be sure have foul weather gear just in case. As adrienne says, you can't use an umbrella so take a good waterproof jacket and a rain hat w/ a brim. I find jacket hood is just not quite enough. Dorky as it sounds, a hood plus a rain hat is good. The hood keeps the back of your neck dry and the hat keeps the rain out of your face.
