Milan-Two days/Transportation and advice on places to stay

Hi there, my sister and I will be staying in Milan VERY briefly! We fly in from athens on a Friday in November and fly out early Sunday Morning. We are flying out of the Malpensa Airport. We are hoping to stay in downtown Milan both nights(to enjoy our stay more.) Which areas would be easiest for us to stay and have access in the morning to transportation that will take us straight to the airport? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Best,
Jean

Transportation between central Milan and Malpensa is easy and frequent. There are trains to/from both the Centrale and Cadorna Nord stations and buses to/from the Centrale station. Both stations are easily reached on the Metro or, obviously, by taxi.

We prefer to stay in the area near the Duomo, and we have walked with luggage from the Hotel Star to the Cadorna Nord station (about 1 km.).

I stayed in Milan at the end of my February Italy trip at the Una Century Hotel. It is convenient to the train station/metros and comfortable and clean. By booking on Expedia, I got a discounted/reasonable rate. I was very happy with my stay. http://www.unahotels.it/en/una_hotel...otel_milan.htm

One word of advice, however - allow yourself self pleanty of time to take the Malpensa train shuttle. Between the delays, and lines at the airport, I just barely made the flight back.

Ah thank you!! I am a natural procrastinator so the advice to leave plenty of time to get there probably just saved me from missing our flight!

A quiet hotel near Cadorna Station, set back off a courtyard from the street, is Antica Locanda Leonardo. Great breakfasts too.
