Milan Restaurant Suggestions

We have one night in Milan after a long day on the train. Dinner will be the highlight of the day. Any restaurant suggestions appreciated. Nothing fancy, just good. Our hotel is near the Duomo. Also, can anyone explain the snacks that are set out at bars in Milan? Are they included in the price of a drink?

Thanks.

See http://www.straughan.com/italy/travel/restaurants.htm for a list of our favorites (we lived in Milan for 12 years).

I work for a company based in Milan and in May, when we had a special event and some reporters in town, we went to dinner at Mauro's on 5 Via Collonetta (sp), about a block from the Jolly Hotel and not far from the Duomo. We had excellent food and service.
I made the mistake of eating by myself one night at the Si restaurant in the glass roofed galleries. Terrible, overpriced meal.

Joyful, the little canapes are all included in the price of the drinks. The only problem is that you usually eat so many that it puts you off your dinner.
If you don't want anything too fancy there's a lot of pizzerias around the Duomo area. Even if you don't want to eat pizza they always have a very good Antipasti Buffet, fresh pasta & meat & fish dishes. However if you want something a little more up market the retsaurant "Al Mercante" in piazza Mercante is quite nice.
