Milan: Hotel Berna....excellent

We stayed at Hotel Berna in Milan for four nights in March. Price came out to be $128USD per night. Walking distance, say 3 blocks, from the train station and airport shuttle bus that we used to come from MXP.
Nice room, a little worn but very well kept. Excellent staff, really pleasant, very professional and friendly. Mini-bar in the room has freebie non-alcoholic drinks stocked daily. Fabulous breakfast with espresso, chocolate, fresh juices, fruit, pastries, eggs, meats, veggies, fresh ricotta, cereals and even a carrot juicer.
Not much going on in the neighborhood but there is a small supermercado a few blocks away if you want a hotel room picnic. There is a pizzeria on the same block (direction of the train station) where we had a nice lunch and a couple beers before a siesta. The metro is right there and it's only 4 or 5 stops to the Duomo.
The hotel manager has made an effort to respond to all the comments on Tripadvisor, and in the time we were researching this trip the hotel moved from #5 to #4 in the ratings because people write such good reviews.

Thanks for this post. I have been looking at this hotel as well as the Spidari for a one-night stay in September and finally decided on this one given our time contraints, etc.

Thanks for feedback on hotel! Can you elaborate on taking the bus from airport? Which train station are you referring to?

Viajero2, the Malpensa shuttle BUS arrives at the Milano Centrale train station. The Malpensa Express TRAIN arrives at the Cadorna Nord station. The Hotel Berna is close to the Centrale station.

Viajero, it's the Centrale train station. The shuttle bus was right outside the front door of the airport terminal. We gave 8€ to the bus driver and climbed on. Couldn't have been easier.
