ATM location at Charles de Gaulle

Does anyone know, if flying Air France from the states to Paris, where the ATM is located in the airport? We'll need to pick up luggage, go through customs and then head to the metro to Gare Nord (RER C?) We'll need to get Euros before purchasing our RER tickets to get into town and it would be so helpful not to be wandering around looking for the ATM!

Have you tried checking the airport's website?

There are plenty of them all over the place, run by HSBC at the moment.

It is the RER B to Paris, not the RER C (you wouldn't have had any chance of making a mistake, though -- the only non-TGV train is the RER B to Paris).

You'll find an ATM at the airport RER station. From the point where you walk down to the tracks, facing the overpass, turn right, you'll see a few ticket machines to your left and the ticket counter to your right. Go straight ahead between those two. On the right handside there's an ATM, just opposite a small bakers shop.
They are quite rude and don't carry any change by the way ;-)

Or use your credit card at the manual ticket window to buy RER tickets - but not in automatic machines because they require cards to have the needed CHIP most American cards don't have

Thanks for the details, Logos. I assume you mean the bakers are rude and don't carry change as opposed to the ATM machines! Are the signs to get to the RER at the airport really clear from customs? This is the first time we'll be taking public transport from the airport as opposed to a taxi. Am I correct that the RER from the airport goes to Gare Nord?

Thanks, as always, for all the help!

There is an RER logo in a circle but the English version of the signs all say "Paris by train" which is pretty clear.

Try spending a 50 euro banknote in Germany - many stores would not take mine recently - i know change 50 euro bills as soon as i can at a willing supermarket or so.

For detailed information, including photos, on taking the RER B from CDG to Paris, go here: www.parisbytrain.com.

But they were rude and I even spoke French. Usually never happens... It was on a Sunday and the ticket counter was packed with people standing in line.

Depending on which terminal you arrive in, you may see an ATM before getting to the RER station. Be on the lookout for one as you make your way to the train. Sometimes they are broken, so you have to move on to the next one.

You can also check the CDG website at: http://www.aeroportsdeparis.fr/adp/f...agers/accueil/

I understand that sometimes the lines to buy RER tickets can be quite long. Anyone know if we might get lucky on a Sunday morning around 9:00 or are there always big lines?

Often it is empty. I haven't needed to go to the ticket office in years, but I have rarely seen more than a half dozen people there. The only problem is that sometimes they are asking really complicated questions, sort of like here. Instead of saying, "2 tickets to Paris please" they are saying "how do we get to Mont Saint Michel once we are in Paris?"

Why don't you change some cash over before you leave so that you don't have to hassle with that right after getting off the plane?

Here is something that I want to mention about the RER at CDG. I can't remember what terminal I was in, but I flew from JFK to CDG via Air France. After I picked up my luggage I went to find an ATM and the RER. Easily found an ATM machine, but what was annoying was that the signs for the RER all had an arrow that pointed DOWNWARD. This made me think the RER was below me and I got on an elevator to go downstairs. This was NOT THE CASE and I ended up in a parking lot.

If you see the RER signs with the downward arrow, keep walking FORWARD for the RER.

For those of you complaining the RER folks were RUDE. Go to your local public transit and do a survey.

As someone who takes public transit a lot.... Rude is an international standard that we have here in the US too LOL!

Do your local public transit folks sell bread rolls?
