Milan - Flight Departs at 9:45!

Our family (2 adults and 3 children) has a flight out of Malpensa in Milan at 9:45 a.m. Should we stay at an airport hotel or is there a hotel in the city near very easy transportation to the airport? An airport hotel seems terrible for our last night but I definitely DON'T want to miss our plane!!

Hi kmwhes, go to http://wwww.malpensashuttle.it and click on the UK flag for the English language.

The Malpensa Shuttle goes from the Centrale (Central) train station in Milan to the Malpensa airport. It takes about one hour, depending on the traffic. All of the information will be found on the above website. Best wishes and enjoy your time with your family in Italy.

We have the same flight time out of Milan in early August, but decided to stay in the city. Our hotel has told us that the transfer time should only be about an hour, so we'll keep our fingers crossed and enjoy our last day/night in Milan!

Another option- if you're interested- would be to stay in Stresa on Lago Maggiore, which is a bit closer to the airport.

Be carefull, the shuttle from Milano Centrale is a bus and the traffic could be a problem! It should be better to get the "Malpensa Express" train from Cadorna station. Trains every 30 minutes and the trip is less than one hour.
Cadorda is near piazza Castello and really a good location for your last evening in Milan.

Ciao.

Late last year, we had a 9:00 am flight out of Milan Malpensa. We stayed near Cadorna Staion and the earliest shuttle to Malpensa is by a bus (NOT train). We got on the 6:00 am bus and was in Malpensa Airport before 7 am.

I'm sure that the train in Cadorna would be faster and not subject to potential road congestions.

If you have a car you might consider staying in Angera. It is only about 30 min. to the airport and, at that early hour, won't be much traffic. We stayed there on our last trip and liked it very much. Stayed at Hotel dei Tigli and had a lovely last night dinner at Vecchie Angera.

I like the idea of staying in Stresa because of Hemingway's A FAREWELL TO ARMS. But that's not on the Milan-to-airport route, is it?

You can get an airport shuttle bus in Stresa that will take you to the airport in about 50-60 minutes. The buses run very early in the morning. Just be sure to ask your hotel to make a reservation for you.
