Milan and Naples transportation help
Was wondering what was the best way to get to Milano Cenrtale from Malpensa: the Malpensa Shuttle or the local bus to Gallarate then underground to Centrale.

Secondly, we are to arrive in Napoli Centrale and must get to Molo Beverello to catch a a hydrofoil to Capri. Is there a connecting train or do we need a cab?

thanks for the help.

MQL: This is a post from last year, I only did it once but this was my jet-lagged recollection
. Regards, Walter
"This was from MXP Terminal 1 and very easy, from clearing Customs after baggage claim to the ticket booth to the bus stop are all just a "stone's throw" from each other. After you clear customs and enter into the terminal, the outside door exits are all marked. Inside between exit 5 & 6 is a ticket counter with a sign above it "Airport 2000". The bus stop is outside between exits 4 & 5. So after you buy your tickets go outside thru exit 5 and turn left and 20M ahead is bus stop No.4.
I *believe* (could be wrong) that there are actually two bus lines or seperate companies that leave from the airport. One is the Express (direct) and the other makes 1 stop in Milan before the station and is 2-3e cheaper. I *think* the ticket agent in the kiosk I used just sold me a ticket on the next departing bus. I asked for the Malpensa Express Bus and was sold the cheaper ticket, which was fine with me. And it makes sense, "to just get the bewildered tourists on their way on the next departing bus"
).
It wasn't crowded when I took it in March but I have read one post of a crowded pushy mob all trying to board the bus. So have a Plan "B"
, peek outside if it's crowded go downstairs and take the Malpensa Express Train http://www.ferrovienord.it/webmxp/index.html to the Cardona Train Station and then a metro or taxi to the Centrale Train Station".
There is a streetcar that runs from the square in front of the train station to the docks where the Hydrofoils and boats go to Capri.
(a) You try to figure it out.
(b) hope you don't have to wait long.
(c) When we got off the boat from Capri, the whole streetcar line was at a standstill - power had blown somewhere on the line, and nothing was moving. The cab ride back was most interesting, and quite cheap, and VERY fast!

Take a taxi...

thanks for the useful info.

Let me ask you this: How often are trains late? Our train back to Milano Centrale from Napoli is scheduled to get in at 6:55 (it's direct as opposed to another with a connector in Roma, but that gets in at 6:25). We then have to hop of the 7:30 shuttle to Malpensa arriving around 8:20 for our 9:30 flight. Are we cutting this too close?
