Mikonos to Santorini by Ferry?
We're newbies trying to navigate the ferry system. We're trying to sail from Mikonos to Santorini on Wednesday July 8. It looks like the only boat that sails that route (the flying cat 3) doesn't sail on that day! The other sites we've checked have come up with nothing too.
So we're hoping someone can give us some advice. Are there really no ferries that sail between the two islands for our days? Any help would be terrific.

The FlyingCat4 makes the trip on July 8. http://www.ferries.gr/hfd
And if for some reason it doesn't (VERY unlikely) you can take the morning ferry at 10am to Paros to catch the Blue Star car ferry when it stops at Noon on the way to Santorini.

I don't know, I've never done it. You can book them from the Hellenic Seaways website or for 2 euro you can book them on the Amphitrion Holidays website to be picked up at the airport from their desk there between Exit/Entry doors 2&3. I don't think they're on sale yet for July, though. You'll just have to keep trying until they are.

Thank you so much. I think we'll wait a bit to see if we can buy all our ferry tickets from Amphitrion's website. Sounds convenient to pick up the tickets there at the airport.
Can I ask you one other question? I saw you mentioned elsewhere that you recommended leaving from Rafina to get to Mikonos. We're staying near Syntagma square. Do you think it's possible to catch an early bus from there to Rafina in time to make an 8 am boat to Mikonos? Or would Pireaus be our best bet do you think?

It would depend on the Rafina>Mykonos schedules on your travel day, but if you can make the connection work the trip will be significantly shorter from Rafina, especially if you take a highspeed ferry. You might also consider spending your last night in Rafina so you can wake up and not have to stress about getting to the port on time.
From Pedion Areos park near Viktoria train station there is a public bus to Rafina every half an hour. The cost of the ticket is about (EURO 2). The distance is 30 km.
Look at this map: http://www.athensguide.com/map/athens.htm
Viktoria Square Metro Station is north of the Omonia Square Metro Station and Pedion Areos Park is a couple of blocks east of Viktoria Station.
From Syntagma Station take the Red Line Metro one stop to Omonia Station, and switch to the Green Line train one stop to Viktoria Station.

Hi JnL1'
The first bus from Athens to Rafina leaves at 0545, and takes an hour or so to get there. You can see the timetable at http://www.ktelattikis.gr/routes.php (sorry, its only in Greek).
An easier, but slower, option is to go by Blue Star Ithaki from Piraeus to Mykonos. You can take the metro to Pireaus from central Athens for its 0735 departure. Blue Star ferries are comfortable, modern ships, and arrival on Mykonos is at 1250. http://www.bluestarferries.com/dromo...id=3&lineid=22
