Mary Christmas from John G, Keith, and Jackie O.

Don't eat too much over the holidays or you will look like a fat tourist in white sneakers and jeans!

Happy holidays, a good winter, interesting travels in 2004 to everyone. Here's an e-card for everyone: http://www.irishcorner.com/d_c.html?...r3fea656906cc6

P.S. I don't think we're all "friends" just because we might enjoy sharing travel enthusiasm and interacting on an internet message board. Sorry to be nitpicky (bah, humbug, etc.), but friendship is important, and something more than having fun on a public website, and sometimes I just HAVE to say this. But, we can still really mean it when we wish one another all good things. Happy holidays! cmt

Hi Calamari, and a happy holiday season to you, too!

cmt, perhaps "fodor friends" is a special category of friend?

It's 7 am here in England, and my 2 year old has been up for almost two hours. We got done opening presents a little while ago, and now my husband is in the living room putting together a train set while our son says "Want train Daddy! Move please!!" (Hey, at least he's using good manners, LOL) Wrapping paper is everywhere!!! I've got pancakes to make, pies to bake, and I'm definitely going to make time for a nap, at some point today. And then there are all the phone calls we have to make to family and friends back in the States. Outside it's chilly, windy and rainy, but here in the house it's nice and warm, and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else in the world.

Yawwwwnnnnn.....Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Calamari, I am honored to be one of your Foder friends. You are a tried and true mainstay on this great forum. All the very best to you in 2004.

And who knows, if we all try real, real hard, maybe next year cmt will call us friends too! Just teasing, just teasing!

Merry Christmas to you too, Calamari and all the other Foder friends out there.

I am so excited! It is raining in Southern California and it hasn't rained here on Christmas day in over 20 years. Finally! I can burn my fireplace and have a cozy Christmas with my family.

God bless you all!
Cheers..

I hope it was a Merry Christmas to all of my Fodor Friends also!!
It was a lovely day here, Pup got a toy, Santa was good to us and the children are happy, so what more could I ask for?
OK, besides a trip around the world, First Class, and a new wardrobe to take with me.

RE: "friends"
someone , who admits to being a bah humbug, disputes the fact that we are "friends" here - so I looked up the meaning of "friends" , since I am one of those who feels like I am among friends here.

Myriam Webster says that Friends are:
Belonging to the same party, nation or GROUP.
Favored Companions.
To have Friendly relations with..
On good or familiar terms with...

So I say that most of you, I do consider to be FRIENDS!
I have had the pleasure of meeting a few and look forward to meeting more. And after a "friendly relationship" of more than 2-3 years, I think Friend is the best description for most of you.

Kismet - No, I doubt DH will have any energy left over to make castagnole for little ole me since he is cooking for 500 people on New Years Eve! All is not lost, my MIL will be here from Florence in Feb. and she will bring the chestnut flour with her and show my kids how to make it. How about you? Do you ever make it?

Scarlett - That was so insightful. You are absolutely right! We are friends in spirit...the spirit of travel and laughter! Cheers!
