Marriott Hotels outside London
Our family of 7 will be traveling to England/Ireland in July during the Olympics. We are using points for airfare and lodging. The Marriott in London is blacked out for point usage so we are looking at two other Marriotts that are outside London. The first is TudorPark which is 20 minutes south of London (Maidstone, Kent, England). The second one is Hanbury Manor which is 25 miles north of London in Hertford. Any suggestion as to which would be best given that we will be commuting to London part of the time for the Olympics, sights, etc.???

just a rudimentary search of the two hot;ls's sites -
Maidstone is 30 KM away and 8 KM from train or bus to London
Hanbury Manor is about 25 Mi , closer to a bus and train station in Ware.
You should do some digging and look at train/bus schedule s for each location. With a family of 7, getting an apartment or something in Central london or at least tube distance may be the cheaper option.

Do you have tickets to the Olympics? If not, I would change travel dates.
An apartment is probably your cheapest option for 7 people but I have no clue on prices or availability during the Olympics. Best to start searching now.

we are not travel agents - you probably need to do some searching and then come back w/specific questions. For the Olympics, prices for apartments will NOT be what the typical prices are they we could tell you based on experiences.
ESPECIALLY if you do not know geography, don't book a flat without checking it really is in London.

The savings you get by using your points for those two hotel, will be more than eaten up by transport ££/time.
Use you points for the flights and maybe for a hotel in Ireland. Then book one very large flat or two smaller ones in London. But book it NOW. Do a search - there are hundreds of threads about flats in London.
If you have to pay for your accommodations-- what is your budget?
