Well excuse the spelling but hopefully you know which museum I mean! We will be staying near Rue Cler and are thinking about visiting this museum - can anyone help me with transportation connections? I know its not in the central tourist area, how difficult is it to get to? how long would it take from the Rue Cler area? Thanks! SueC1

to look at the connections.

The stop you want for the museum is
La Muette. You get off there and walk north for 10-15 minutes, passing through a park. When you exit the park the museum is across the street, in what looks like a grand private house.
There is a banner out front.

Using my handy Michelin Guide...
Sounds like a lot of switches, but you'll find it easy once you get started.

Take Metro at Ecole Militaire (end of rue Cler, turn right around corner on Motte Picquet street.
Take Line 8, direction Balard...to the next stop which is La Motte Picquet.
Take Line 6, direction Etoile...4 stops to Trocadero.
Take Line 9, direction Pont de Sevres...two stops to La Muette.

From there, head down Chausse de la Muette, street turns into Avenue du Ranelagh as it goes through the park, you hit avenue de raphael, turn right, it's across the street.

Worth the visit!

I got off at La Muette and was able to find the museum by following street signs that pointed to it. You will walk through the Ranalagh Gardins to reach it, if you desire.

8 from Ecole Militaire direction Balard. Change at La Motte Piquet-grinelle to line 10 direction Bolougne-Pte. de St. Cloud. Change again at Michelange Auteuil to linw 9, direction Maiie de Montreuil.

And get off at La Muette.

Lines 8 and 9 do cross well away from your objective, so that a single transfer takes you well out of your way.
The two lines to intersect at Richleieu Drouot, but that is a long ways from La Muette.

I reall think you should get a Metro map and plot your own course.

Depending on how you hit the train connections, I would say total transit time would be 30-40 minutes. There a short walk of about 10 to 15 minutes from La Muette.

and after decding which Monet to steal and hang in your den, walk back to the Arc and take the Metro from there. Easy walk and good places for coffee along the way. Enjoy!

Although it sounds complicated, it isn't as bad as it sounds and the museum is definitely worth the trip. Plus you get to see a little more of Paris!

It is a fairly long walk to the Place de l'Alma. From there, you can take the 63 bus to the end of the line. Then it is a short walk along Raphaël to rue Louis Boilly. The museum is just around the corner on Louis Boilly.

Whiile you're in the Marmottan area, consider visiting the Museum Nissim de Camando. It's a marvelous collection of 18th-century furniture, carpets, and objets d'art, and the family that owned the house has a fascinating and tragic history.

Underhill, while the Musée Nissim de Camondo is well worth seeing, it's in the 8th, at metro Villiers or Monceau, nowhere near the Marmottan. I think you're thinking of the Jacquemart-André, which is close to the Camondo, and is another wonderful museum.

Suec1: if you walk to La Motte-Piquet metro station, you can take line 10 (Direction Porte d'Auteuil) to get to the Marmottan with only one transfer, at Michel-Ange Auteuil. Be aware that line 10 splits prior to that point and you need to make sure the train you take is the correct one. The overhead display at the station will indicate which train is coming. At Michel-Ange Auteuil, transfer to line 9 (Direction Mairie de Montreuil) and get off at Ranelagh, the second stop, or La Muette, the third.

Just realized I can't actually recall if there's an overhead display at the metro station or not...I think I was thinking of our local transportation system. Should be on the front of the train, in any case.
