marmaris

I am thinking of spending two weeks in Marmaris with my English Friends (I am from Malta). Any comments - I will be staying at the Intermar Hotel - anybody been there? What about the shops? Do you think two weeks is too long to stay in Marmaris?

I'm not a great fan of Marmaris but it all depends on what you are looking for. If you want some traditional Turkish hospitality and local flavour them Marmaris isn't the place. On the other hand if you want a large busy resort with plenty of bars, shops, discos etc but that could be almost anywhere then go for it!

Do you like to stay in a holiday resort and spend most of the time inside or do you like to make daily boat trips and to go out for dinner/drinking...
What is your budget for accomondation?
When you'll plan to be there?
I would like to stay in Icmeler or in Turunc in Marmaris rather then in the center because it is more green.
Afain it depends what you are looking for,

Lots of bars and clubs and shopping then stay in Marmaris. The bazaar in Marmaris is worth a look so is the castle.

If you want a more relax environment with better Turkish hospitality then at leasdt take a day trip by water taxi to Turunc, about 40 mins by water taxi from the Ataturk statue in Marmaris. Turunc is just wonderful, very relaxing and friendly. I'm going back thgere again in May - 4th time

regards

Duncan, Birmingham England
