Marcello Maresca - Personal Guide

I have just returned from a short five day break in Sorrento and wanted to share my wonderful experience with you all.

It has always been my Fathers dream to visit Sorrento and in partcular the Amalfi Coast and Despite being very well travelled he never actually made it heppen until now. I wanted to make our trip to the Amalfi coast a day we would never forget but I could never have imagined just how truly spectacular it would be and it is all down to one person. MARCELLO MARESCA. I heard about Marcello on Fodors originally and decided to contact him to see what he could offer us. From the moment I made contact with Marcello he was nothing short of wonderful. He guided me as to how I could optimise our trip to make the most of our time and replied to my emails promptly in perfect English. His prices were also amazing for the level of service and time he gives.

Marcello has lived and travelled all over the world and has many exciting stories to share. He is the perfect guide. He has a wonderful sense of humour, patience and so much knowledge of the coast it constantly amazed us.

I felt that Marcello was more than just a guide he became a friend. He is one of the most honest and trustworthy people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and takes such pride in his work and his country.

We did the tour of the coast that all tourists dream of but then we went to smaller untouched places which Marcello had just as much information on and which I thought were even more beautiful. The views literally took my breath away!!!

Marcello also took us to a fantastic restaurant for lunch which was one of the best I have ever been to, in fact the whole day will stay with me forever. There was no rush with Marcello and just when I thought the tour couldn’t get any better it did around every curve was a more beautiful sight. Truly spectacular!!!!

I cannot thank Marcello enough he has given myself and my Father the most amazing memories of one of the best days of my life which we will always be able to share.
Marcello also took us on a fantastic tour of Naples.

All I can conclude is that everyone should visit the Amalfi coast and EVERYONE should call Marcello to experience a day they will never forget.

You can read more on Marcello on his website seesorrento.com - if you send him any requirements i am sure he will provide all the help he can.If you need any more information I will be happy to help. Please E-mail me.Also do a search here on Fodors to find some more reviews.
Can you give us an idea of the rate he charges for a full day?

Lorraine,

I am glad to hear you had a good experience with Marcello. We hired Marcello last year while in Sorrento for the day to cruise the Amalfi Coast and take us to Paestum to see the Greek Temples. It was a great day, but a little to much was packed in the day. If anyone were going to attempt to do this, I would recommend breaking it up with the Amalfi Coast separate from a trip out to Paestum. Marcello was good natured and informative throughtout the very long and exhaustive day. He stopped at some wonderful lookout points and for lunch. If I recall correctly (my records are not currently accesable), the cost was approx. $200 - $250 for the whole day. Well worth it.
