Malaga to Granada travel time?

We will be staying in the Mijas-Costa/Malaga area and plan to visit the Alhambra. Since we will have a rental car I thought about driving to Granada. How many hours is the drive? Should we try to get a late-morning ticket to the Alhambra, drive from Malaga early in the AM and stay overnight after touring the palace and grounds? What about train or bus from Malaga to Granada -- leave the driving and parking to someone else? Thanks for any help/advice.

About 2 hours by the freeway. Easy drive. Alhambra is well signed once you get to Granada & there is abundant parking.

hi! Just wondering if anyone knows how long it takes to get from Malaga to Granada by bus? Am considering flying in to Malaga airport instead of Granada. Thanks!

Depending upon the schedule chosen it should take anywhere from 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Flying into Malaga would be a lot easier as it is a major airport and there is more flight selection.

MEveryday there is traffic jam on the hiway from Benalmadena to Malaga. You better count withan extra of 30 min. Once you pass Malaga and head to Granada, it is a little over 90 min. Getting to the Alhambra is very easy as it is perfectly indicated. There is enough parking there. Get your tickets in advance, either online or in any office of the bank BBVA, once you are in Mijas. If you can choose, avoid a holiday.
