Please lead me through the proper sequence of numbers I must dial before dialing my sister's number in Texas.
TIA.

Per google and rick steves
To call the U.S.A. or Canada from Europe, dial 00, then 1 (the country code for the U.S.A and Canada), then the area code and number. In short, 00 + 1 + AC + LN = Hi, mom!

If you are calling direct dial from a hotel, ask the front desk how to get an outside line. There may or may not be another digit you need to dial first before the 001...

And IF your are direct dialing from your hotel, beware that this can be very expensive. I avoid whenever possible direct dialing due to cost. I always use a calling card - either my us based AT&T calling card or for personal calls a cheap calling card I pick up at a local shop, tabak, etc.

The card will have instructions on it.
