Madrid and Barcelona in 7 days
Will be arriving in Madrid on Nov 18th and taking a cruise from Barcelona on the 25th. How many days in each city? Would like to go to Toledo, Also Avila and Segovia. And Montserrat. Too much? Really interested in suggestions.

Toledo, Avila, Segovia and Montserrat take up 4 day trips.
That leaves 3 days for Barcelona and Madrid ( both very big cities)with travel time of half a day between them.
Spend 3 days in each city. When there, decide if you have time for side trips.

Alternatively you could spend the entire time in either Barcelona or Madrid. You could easily spend 4 days in Barcelona alone then have 3 days for daytrips (for example Girona, Tarragona, Vic, Montserrat, etc...) or even stay in a smaller town for a couple of nights and a change. Likewise you could base yourself in Madrid and visit Avila, Segovia & Toledo in 3 daytrips.
You don't have time to do all of this is 7 days. 3 days in each city would work but you probably wouldn't end up doing any daytrips and just focusing on the larger cities of Madrid & Barceloona.

Yes, too much. I would stay 4 days Madrid and 3 days in Barcelona. Do one or two day trips while in Madrid ( I would pick Segovia and Toledo, in that order). If you run out of things to do in Barcelona , on the 3rd day there you could go to Montserrat.
