Hi,
The amount of time is up to you, depending on how much you enjoy looking at wax figures.
Yes they are next to each other ( not sure if you can go through from MT's to the Planitarium on the inside but you can get a combined ticket that will save you some money.
Have fun!!

Personally, I'd skip both. There's so much to see and do in London that I'm sure you'll regret having wasted time on these two things. It really depends tho' on whether you find yourself with lots of time and some money after you've seen all the great things in London. (But if it were me, I'd go to a great pub or another play.)

Hi

they are next to each other, and I wouldn't put this on your MUST SEE list, but, I will say this - if you are in a really silly mood, it can be kinda funny.

I went there last year with a friend, first time back in maybe ten years, and for it being a cheesy museum (my words exactly, too, Dawn!) we had more fun... we posed for pics next to many of them - completely goofy.

my favorite picture is me sitting next to "Steven Spielberg" on his director's chair, he's kinda smiling off into space and I've got the whole bunny ears thing going behind his head. (what made it interesting is that when I showed some friends at home - since I was going on a "press trip" with my friend, I managed to fool a couple of them - they assumed we were of course meeting famous people for her to write about... HA HA HA)

Beth

It took many years and many visits to London before I headed over to Mme. Tussaud's, but what fun we had! As campy as it seems, seeing the recreation of her workshop (and knowing that she made deathmasks--including Marie Antoinette's) made it interesting. I was disappointed in how badly some of the people were recreated, but dazzled by others, such as the Dali Lama.

Beth: I had my picture taken with the "exhausted older tourist lady slumped on a bench," my favorite!

But I'd only recommend it if you have many days in London. As previous posters said, there is SO much else to do. You'll kill lots of time in line, by the way.

Enjoy London!

Isn't it amazing that you ask a question, get 8 answers, and no one answers the question?

Madame Tussaud's and the London Planetarium are in the same building. If you have your tickets purchased in advanced it takes between 1 and 2 hours to see both - of course if you may spend a lot more time than this.

But be sure to buy tickets in advance or you will be in a huge line to get in. We got there saw the line, saw the phone number on the side of building, called the number and bought our tickets, and were in-and-out before the people at the end of the line got in.

Well, you are quite the clever one! I saw on my BigBus brochure that I could buy my ticket from them. Trouble is, I am not going there the same day as I am going on the Big Bus hop on hop off tour. Do you think that will make a difference? I would be buying my ticket in advance.

I went to Madame Tussaud's and the Planetarium on my second long stay in London. Never thought I would enjoy it but I did; the American characters don't look much like the originals but it's still fun to see the whole thing. And since I was there, I thought I might as well see the Planetarium and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's not something you'll do very often so why not! Certainly not up there with the "must sees" but fun when you've accomplished everything else. By the way, I went on a week day in October and only waited a while.

We went to Madame Tussauds thinking it would be a hit with the kids and I just hated it. We'd heard there would be a line and had gotten advance tickets, but there was no line. They had just let everyone in the world in. This was in the afternoon on Sunday in late March. It was so packed in the first two rooms where they have the "current" stars that you couldn't even get a photo with them.
The trip in cars through historical London was a total waste, probably because the speaker in our car didn't work at all. But, then again, the speaker did work in the car my husband was in, with my son, and he said we hadn't missed anything. It's a horrendous tourist trap and you can hardly figure out how to exit through the store in the end.
