I am flying from Heathrow to Lyon LYs and want to get the TGV to Montpellier. There does not appear to be an easy way to do this can someone please explain how we can do this and if a taxi is best -what are the costs etc.

There is Tram shuttle service runing from the airport to La Part Dieu Station every 15mn. Journey time is 30mn at a cost of 13€

That airport express tram is very easy and cheap. There is a TGV station right at the airport, though. It may not go to Montpellier, but I know trains from there go to Marseille and Arles (and Avignon or Valence where you can get a TGV to Montpellier). So it's up to you where you want to transfer.

Is €13 cheap for some people ? Actually I do find it so expensive. A friend of mine livign in Lyon take it occasionally but I never asked so did not think it that expensive.

Unfortunately, it seems the case unless OP can take a very rare TGV leaving Avignon TGV to Montpellier. I see one that one (coming from Marseille) leaves Avignon TGV at 18h07 on a day.

Checking the SNCF site, I saw a train at 13h40 in LYS arriving at 15h34 in Montpellier with a change in Valence and a 19h25 / 22h45 with a change in Avignon-Centre

I consider it cheap for what you get and also compared to a taxi, yes.
