Sofitel Lyon Bellcour has just been renovated. Good location on edge of historic district, walk or easy metro access to sites. Comfortable beds.
Hilton Lyon. New developement, next to Parc Tete d'Or with beautiful views of river or park. Quiet new urban environment with movie cinema and casino. Very comfortable rooms, most with balconies. Not walkable to historic area. Would need car or take bus / metro combo.

Hello,
I just posted quite a detailed description of the different areas of Lyon - perhaps it would be helpful for you! http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34896365
I will have a think about hotels and get back to you.

We really liked the Boscolo Grand Hotel. Its on the rue Grolee which we thought was near to most things.

We got a really good weekend rate in November.

good luck!
