I'd second that recommendation, sadly Prague doesn't have any historic Grand hotels besides the Palace, and that is very, very, very faded. So you have to go for a modern one, and the Four Seasons is an excellent property, if a little characterless.

We highly recommend and have stayed at The Three Ostriches (U Tri Pstrosu)smack on the Charles Bridge, Mala Strana end...be sure to get a room overlooking the bridge. We have sent family and friends there for many years..superb. Very good restaurant and large rooms. Two years ago, the typical room rates were starting at about 170E's.

We're thinking of Prague next week, and I'll definitely check out the Three Ostriches. Thanks for the advice. I know nothing about the city but my husband has been hot to go and now it's school break, so... any other suggestions for important things to do? My research begins now!

Oh, just a heads up.. if you decide to travel outside of Prague, be alert to the fact that much of the Czech Rep was flooded in the past week, and was in a state of emergency. Prague is fine, though.
