Luxurious bath robe suggestions

There was a discussion in the Lounge about luxurious bath robes. I no longer have access to the Lounge, so I was wondering if anyone remembers some of the suggestions. I am just looking for a brand name suggestion to start my online research. Thank you!

There are great robes in both the garnet hill and the soft surroundings catalogues and online.

I don't wear bathrobes, but the most luxurious robe I have ever "experienced" was at the Ritz Carlton Istanbul. I am almost positive it was from Frette.

I have a frette and it is the best for getting out of the shower, very soft and absorbent.

You should look for Turkish towel cotton. I remember poster Otherchelebi telling in a post where to buy these in the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul.

I've never understood the concept of the bathrobe.
And I have no access to the lounge.

I cannot help.
(That is an interesting/helpful answer, isn't it ?).

Nice - just one vowel off from being lascivious

I don't have a bathrobe, luxurious or not, but I do enjoy greeting our French neighbors in my flannel footed and hooded bunny pajamas.

My favorite bathrobe is one I purchased at the hotel outside the gates of Machu Picchu. It's a Belmonde (previously Orient Express) hotel, so they may well sell it elsewhere.

You know, Mel, sometimes you just rub me the wrong way.

Have you been to Rocamadour to rub the Black Madonna for bad luck?

Just curious -- are you looking for a silk or velvet bathrobe or something warmer? Something to put on after you get out of a shower? For a terrycloth or after-bath robe, lots of Italian and French brands have good ones -- Descamps, Frette, etc. My husband has a Missoni bathrobe he likes very much. (He also has a Mulberry one in a beautiful plain we bought back around 2000, the last year or so that Mulberry made them, but eventually it ended up on the floor by my desk at home; it was where our cocker hung out while I was on the computer).

In December, we saw a gorgeous ruby red velvet bathrobe at the Descamps store in Milan. It was very tempting.

If you want silk, there are lots of options from La Perla and the like. Years ago, I had a wonderful silk bathrobe from Hanai Mori, but I don't know if the brand still makes them.

I don't wear a bathrobe much, so mine is a simple flannel one from a New England brand. The best (??) thing one could say about it is that Sheldon Cooper sometimes wears the same one on The Big Bang Theory.

I've been very happy with my Missoni dressing gown that I've had a for a few years. Here's a link to their current range (via the longest URL in the world);

Can't say I'm overly enamoured with the the colours available, but they may be right up your alley.

Wow, thank you so much for all the responses. I am thrilled to begin the hunt. I love all the travel spot references too. I will have to look into booking a trip to Turkey, which has always been high on my list.

To answer someone's question above, I was looking for a comfortable terry bathrobe to get into once I get out of the shower. I love to lounge in it while I get dried and dressed. I use my bathrobe as a towel of sorts.

I ended up with a velvety one from Soma, while I recovered from my delivery. I am still in the market for a nice terrycloth or Turkish cotton. Merci!

If anyone ever needs something from the Lounge, we can look it up for you. Just need an approximate date and title for the thread.

Suze, thank you for the offer but I don't remember the date or the title. I just remember that there was a thread on bathrobes of choice.

Well you've already solved your problem, just saying I'm happy to bust into the Lounge and use a search if it's something important to anyone.
