anyone used https://lurento.com to book a sports car in italy? we're going to florence in august and i want surprise my husband with a convertible. the rates are good however there are no reviews.

BTW, you can rent a Fiat Spider convertible for a week through Hertz for a lot less than an equivalent vehicle on Lurento.

i'm thinking mercedes or bmw. i have bad experience with hertz anyway.

Call AutoEurope. They can probably beat the Lurento rates.

i've called them and the rates are significantly better like 20 percent. however they can't guarantee a convertible just "e class, c lass or similar". he offered me bmw series 5 cabrio for $650 per day. that doesn't make sense. any other options?

I don't have experience with other car rental companies, so I would hesitate to recommend anyone else. But if you google, there are several "luxury car rental" options to compare rates.

Are you sure you couldn't work with Hertz? We've rented from them several times in Italy without any problems, although you may have the same problem with the convertible "guarantee."

As for the rate quoted by Autoeurope ($650/day), how many days are you renting?

hertz, thanks but no thanks. i've spent hours trying to solve the overcharge. ended up paying huge phone bill.

of corse i've searched on google. found a couple of broker companies. europe luxury has 3.8/5 review score but again the rates are higher, i don't want to spend more than $350/day.

OK, if you won't use Hertz, require an absolute guarantee of a convertible and don't want to spend more than $350/day, then Lurento may work for you. But note that you have to click through the offer details to see the added fees and learn the final rental cost. A large security deposit is required in advance, so make sure your credit card has a high enough limit. Most offers include only 750 km. which is less than 100 miles a day, and the company doesn't say what the additional kilometers/miles will cost. That alone would be a deal-breaker for me. 100 miles a day doesn't take you far if the point of having the car is to ramble.

FWIW... We own a convertible. In mid-August, in hot and humid weather, the top would not be down except perhaps at night.

Hertz Dream Cars also take cars from local companies, and there's no unlimited mileage option for luxury cars in Italy. I have no problem with Hertz but Lurento has far better selection. Now I don't know if you can get better rates elsewhere. If you don't like Hertz try Lurento but don't rent from local companies directly - you'll end up paying fees like "exchange rate markup", "delivery fee", etc.
