Lunch stop?:Rome-Arezzo
Looking for lunch stop between Roma airport and Arezzo in July. Good local faire, first day of 2 week stay at Villa Podere Miri. And any other spots of good cheer and delight to enjoy. Wine, food, history, music and art!
I know what did I leave out?
Thanks, Ken

Orvieto is about a mile off the A1, hardly a detour. But what time does your flight arrive at FCO? If it arrives in the early morning like most flights from the USA, you will be in Orvieto about 10 or earlier. You may even make it to Arezzo before noon. Lunch usually starts at 12:30 at the earliest. About six kilometers off the A1 is Sinalunga where you will find the Loncanda d'Amorosa. It has an excellent restaurant in a beautiful setting.

I Sette Consoli!
Park your car near the RR station at the bottom of town, take the funicular to Orvieto Alto. The best restaurant in Italy, IMO, is a couple of blocks away. Ask anyone for directions. Dining under their big tent is memorable.

I Sette Consoli is strong. Its run by a woman chef and she had a Michelin star but somehow lost it. I was there a month or so ago and my wife and I had tasting menus that cost 45E per, wine extra. But that was dinner and one can do much better lunchtime. I purposly take the train from Rome to lunch at ISC prior to renting a car for the rest of the trip.

Which area - the Arrezzo area ? If so, we very much enjoyed doing the Piero della Francesco trail - Arrezzo, Monterchi, Sansepolcro and over the Mountains of the Moon to Urbino.

Alberoro is the little town outside of Arezzo. Mountians of the Moon! Sounds very cool and a must see, thanks. Any wine or oil vinard suggestions? Music, roman art or buildings, any little hidden treasures one may have found? Sunset locations, walks. Boy! I am very demamding! Ciao!

Oh, I like to suggest you LA BETTOLA DEL BUTTERO (www.labettoladelbuttero.com), very close to the exit Fabro on the highway A1 from Roma to Arezzo and, really at half way.
Grilled food is its specialty.
Enjoy it, ciao.
