Lunch in Belleville - 20th Arr
I'm looking for an inexpensive(less than E20)place for lunch. My plan is to go to the Belleville Marché, have lunch, and then go to Père Lachaise. This will be late Oct so it may be too cool for a patio, but it would be nice!
Thanks!

I don't know the area but it is easy to get set-menu lunches for under 20€ at most bar/brassarie and restos. The carte should be exposed outside and you can see if they have anything you like.
There are lots of couscous places around there.

Le Saint-Amour at 2 Ave. Gambetta just across the street from one of the entrances to Pere Lachaise is an Auvergnate bistro that serves the wonderful dish aligot, it's mashed potatoes with cantal cheese and garlic that gets whipped to the point that it forms strings as much as 3 feet long when the wire whip is held aloft from the pot. Fabulous. They serve it with sausages. Also make a swell steak tartar where they bring you all the stuff and you mix yourself to your own specifications. One of those corner cafe places that look like nothing and deliver lots. Enjoy

La Boulangerie

No, it's not a bakery, it's a restaurant. Don't be discouraged by rather seedy surroundings, the dishes are excellent, very creative (and the beautiful mosaique floor).

I second La Boulangerie, one of the hippest bobo joints around. Ditto for La Mère Lachaise, maybe easier to access, as it is on the bd de Ménilmontant itself. Le Saint Amour is fun, but serves VERY heavy food and will definitely be above your € 20 ceiling!
