Luggage and Norway in Nutshell

So we are going to be going from Oslo to Bergen and thought to do the one way NIN but then realized this might not be a great idea as we will have luggage with us and I don't want to be lugging it around from one connection to another train, boat etc.. not that we will have a lot --carry on and a back pack but I am not sure if there is room for it and it would be annoying. Has anyone gone from Oslo to Bergen with the plan to stay in Bergen so had their luggage with them? We will be in Bergen for 4-5 days as we want to do some other tours from there.

It's not a problem. Many people do the NIN tour while traveling through Norway, taking all their luggage with them; that's what we did.

I used a porter service to transport my luggage from Bergen to Oslo. I took backpack for trek through Balestrand, Stalheim and Flam. They picked up my luggage at my hotel in Bergen, and it was waiting for me in my hotel room 4 days later in Oslo. Excellent service. www.porterservice.no

Yes I had luggage and no problem - wheels always helps but the transfers are not far but very close - bus in front of train station in Voss - bus takes you to boat - Flam station is right by the dock and goes to Myrdhal station. ample room on all conveyances, even boat for a moderate amount of luggage anyway.

actually just checked the porter service and we cannot use them as we will be staying in an apartment. OK well we will figure something out. Perhaps do the train to bergen and then the back half of the NIN trip from Bergen..or stay overnight in one of the towns in between while we do part of the trip.

Perhaps do the train to bergen and then the back half of the NIN trip from Bergen

a waste of time just to avoid taking luggage along.
