Lufthansa on strike 6-13 nov 2015
I am ging to specialize in strike warnings... Sorry about lateness of this one, I was on holiday.
It is chaos already - some colleagues didn't show up, some took other airlines/routes.
Heard Luft cancelled 900 flights today only.
'We inform you that Lufthansa cabin crew announced a strike from 6 to 13 November.
Disruptions can be expected.
We recommend travellers to check their flight schedules with the airline company before going to the airport.'

Don't know. Don't care.
Next time I have a choice, I'll avoid Luft.
Will probably have to spend 7 hours on a train and spend another (unnecessary) night outside home. No sympathy for whatever reason might make them go on strike.

We were caught in a Lufthansa strike last year flying Dublin to cairo. My advice is to call Lufthansa the minute you hear about the flight. It's best to tell them the alternative flights you would prefer, ideally on one of their partner airlines. WE found they were very accommodating and they shifted us to superior flights with a shorter connection. I wouldn't leave it till you get to the airport.

I got caught in this over the weekend when the FRA-NUE leg of my MAN-FRA-NUE flight was cancelled. Since I make it a habit of arriving early at the airport, they were able to book me on a MAN-MUC-NUE on LH that was leaving earlier and during my layover in MUC, I was able to get my return flight sorted. I should count my blessings that at the time, the strike was limited to FRA and DUS (I think)..
The LH were very helpful but in the future, I will look at flying SAS.
Anyhoo, the strike if for the flight attendants and up to date information can be found here: http://www.lufthansa.com/de/en/Travel-information

My flight from Boston to Rome via FRA was cancelled in March on Lufthansa. Found out early enough in the day to get one of the last seats on Turkish Air instead. We lost the first whole day in Rome. My advice would be to check as early as possible the day of your flight (we looked at 4 a.m.) and call to reschedule immediately. It was enough of a PITA that I'd probably think twice before booking Lufthansa again. They seem to do this more often than other airlines.

My flight tomorrow from MAN-FRA was cancelled and I was on hold for close to an hour before I was able to speak to someone. The only flight they were able to put me on was an Air Berlin codeshare with British Airways MAN-LHR-FRA and because it's not Star Alliance, I don't get the free checked bags. It also leaves at 7:30 AM instead of 12:20 PM with Lufthansa. I'm not pleased with any of this and the loss of miles but that's the risk you accept with flying.
