Lucerne to Turin

Has anyone taken a train from Lucerne to Turin. We are taking a tour in March 2004 and plan to leave tour in Lucerne and take a train to Turin. Our dad lived there many years ago in a small town called Feletto. I tried the Raileurope website and could not get much information. Could $100 be the price from Lucerne to Turin each way? Does anyone have any suggestions. We do appreciate your help. Thank you

I took a train from Lucerene to Turin but I can't remember how much it was $100 one way seems a bit expensive. I have friends living in Turin if you can't find out the information I could ask them to look into it for you. Onthe Rail Europe site did you try to get prices using your march date? If so that could be why you can't get any answers they don't post the prices that far in advance try using a date from this month or September prices don't change that much. You will love the area around Turin it is beautiful. If you have any questions about Turino let me know I have spent a lot of time there and love it.

Try the website for the Swiss railways, the website is SBB.ch. Click on "Swiss Federal Railways" on the first page of the website to get to the English version. I just took a look and a ROUND TRIP ticket (2nd class) from Lucerne to Turin is CHF146, which is about US$110. I could not find any connections (bus or train) to Felleto. You might try the website for the Italian railway system at treinitalia.com.

Turin > MaryKarb meant Turin in Italy, I think as there is Feletto nearby.

SBB/CFF site normally does not give the ticket prices for international trains. As far as I can see, the CHF 146.00 return price is for Turin-Salins in Valais canton in Switzerland.

I checked on both Swiss and Italian websites.
Switzerland:
from lucerne to chiasso (border town), 2nd class, full price, 2-way ticket: 108 CHF.
Italy:
from torino to milano (because I don't know the name of the border station next to chiasso...), 2nd class, full price, 2-way ticket; 25 Euro.
let's add 10 Euro for the 2-way ticket to the border...
Total estimate of 108 CHF + 35 Euro, means about 160CHF. Maybe, they might charge some reservation fee if you take an international (special) train.

Total ESTIMATE: 170 CHF for a 2 way-ticket, 2nd class, full price.

This is only an estimate.

24.90€ first class;
18.80€ second class.
One way.

Hello, thank you all for posting. I will check the websites posted when it gets closer to March. I did get an answer from a train web site and the amount they quoted was in Swiss Francs.
If anyone has any information on the small town of Feletto please send any information that would help. I hoping to find relatives. Probably some very old ones. Thank you again.
