Lucca, Italy to Pisa by bus

I will be in Lucca early September and I wish to take a quick trip to Pisa. I only have a couple of hours. I found out on Google that I could take the number 9 Bus which is owned by Trenitalia S.p.A. But when I go onto the Trenitalia website, I am told that they do not offer any transportation services in that area.
How may I travel from Lucca at 9:00 a.m. to Pisa, and return by 1:30?
Thanks.

I have done that trip a couple of times. The bus is not related to Trenitalia, it's run by a company called "Lazzi". They depart from Lucca's bus station at Piazzale Verdi, it's inside the walls. If you take a non stop bus to Pisa it would take around 30 mins. Can't recall how frequent is the service.

I think this link takes you to the schedule:

I've not taken the bus but I did take the train. It iakes 30 minutes and costs 2.40 each way. The train station in Lucca is just outside the town walls. Check schedules here-

I am looking at a Vaibus schedule online. Does "Pisana" mean Pisa?

Thank you.

Just a comment about bus vs train: the main train station in Pisa is about 20-30 mis walking to the tower. However, it's my understanding that there is a secondary train station in Pisa much closser (Rossore?) but have no idea how frequent is the service to that station from Lucca.

The bus leaves you right near the tower.

No, it's something else. I am looking at the schedules and for some reason I don't see the express bus there but it exists. If you don't find it online I suggest you stop by the bus station once you are in Lucca and check the schedules. Or if you are staying at a hotel I'm sure they could find out for you in advance.

I cannot give you a comparison between bus and train, but when I last took the train, it was around €2.20 each way (although it has been about 4 years since I last made the trip)

Also took the train, 20 to 30 minutes, and it was a fairly short walk to the Tower,
seems like 10-15 minutes maybe. The fare is very inexpensive and as mentioned runs frequently.
It is a easy trip, so enjoy!!!!
