I am tempted to say 'pray'. But, more helpfully perhaps, this is a very easy train journey, ideally undertaken over two days. If you are loathe to do overnight hops on trains, then Menton (just west of the French / Italian border) makes a nice spot to break the journey.
Day One: Venice to Menton is 6 hrs 30 mins with one change.
Day Two: Menton to Lourdes is 10 hrs with two changes.
Some wondeful scenery along the way.

Also, if you are not specifically going for the waters, but the trip is devotional in nature, you should know that Loreto is not far from Venezia, certainly a simple day trip with a car.

Hi K,
Book a flight from Venice to Bordeaux, France and then a 2.5 hr. train ride to Lourdes.
