Arriving in Berlin tomorrow and am hoping to find a good breakfast/lunch place close to the Berlin Hauptbahnoff Train station before my train to Prague. Something German and hearty would be especially welcome. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Well there is nearly zilch around the Berlin Hbf - built in an area of government buildings with little or no commercial stuff around it - but the station itself is a multi-tiered shopping mall with lots of eateries - may not look like a cozy German Gastehaus but i'm sure German places thru and thru as mainly Germans come here.

Beer, of course, is considered a food in Germany and they even took that issue to the European Court - to have beer declared a food and not just a lubricating drink.

Yup no doubt you can have a brew with your breakfast.

there are no other options IME for at least a mile around or so - new station is in a wasteland for that type of stuff. No city around it - just government buildings.
