Looking for comfortable Room Venice to Florence

Hey again,
We are returning to Italy the last week of August and will be traveling by auto from Venice to Florence on the day we arrive (will see Venice on departure). Any reommmendations for a quiet comfortable hotel or B&B for the night about halfway. I'm more concerned about mattress and shhets than sires to see on my first night.

Hi C,

It's only 3:20 hr by highway.

If you will be jetlagged and don't want to drive that far, why not spend one night in Venice?

Ferrara is only 1:45 hr away.

I'm usually the first person to say don't worry about driving in Italy - even Rome and the Amalfi Coast - but if you're taking the car into Florence's centro storico - don't! For us it was three days of paying for a rental car we couldn't use readily and a garage fee. A waste. If you're getting the car to explore Tuscany, wait until you leave Florence. I'd take the train from Venice to Florence.

The villa we have near Florence is outside the city with plenty of free parking. We really don't want to go into Venice on arrival. We plan to spend 3 days there at departure. Just looking for a n interim spot to have agood nights sleep the first night.

We have just returned from Florence, we stayed in a B&B right in Piazza overlooking the Duomo, just amazing $95 per night, private bathroom, TV (with English speaking channels)Kettle and fridge. The bed was very comfortable. The web site is http://www.bed-breakfast-florence.com/eng/tuscany.htm
