Florence to Venice

I am staying 7 days in venice but i want to visit florence also. Would it be too much of a hastle to take 2 separate day trips to florence from venice. What is the travel time to florence from venice and what is the best way to travel. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

It's 3 hours by train each way Venice - Florence - that's on the Eurostar. It would be longer on other trains and then you have to factor in the time it takes to get to the train station. A bit much for a day trip.

If you're flying into and out of Venice I would begin my trip with 2 or 3 days in Florence and then travel to Venice.

Venice is beautful but very cold and rainy this time of year. You might have more fun dividing your time between Florence and Rome as well.

I think a 2-night trip to Florence would be nice. You can make appointments for the Accademia and the Uffizi, to maximize your museum time.

And for the record, we were rained on for 5 days straight in Rome and Florence last week, while Venice was sunny and clear (though cold).

Hi MJ

I suggest that, if you can do it, you do an overnight to Florence.

The B&B Peterson is an inexpensive place that I can recommend. See www.bedinflorence.it
