Amy I wanted to also recommend a place that Thin recommended to us and we ended up having a divine dinner there:

La Rose de Sommerard - it is very close to where you are staying and fabulous!

The Rose of Sommerard has great spring rolls w/ dipping sauce that reminds me of salt/vinegar potato chips.

The Chinese family who run the place is lovely.

Ah, The Rose sounds great. Though I don't usually fancy a burger for a break from French, Asian does sound good. I usually do take-out, but that gets old before you even get home. Not to mention messy in a hotel room...

A few years ago, we ate with Parisian friends in a place decorated in a New York theme. It is amusing to see the French "do" American. They were so proud and wanted to show it off! Food was actually quite good. It's in Pudlo, but I don't remember the name off hand.

I do know BIA is owned by a guy from CT. (Yes, I did look at the website and mark it on my map...just in case!)

I've always felt that the best Paris breakfast is coffee from wherever you can get it, fruit from one of the many street markets (you can find one open every day but Monday - buy the day before you eat) and pastry from a nearby shop.
We take it back to the hotel and eat there -- wonderful!!

Here is a site that will help:
http://www.parislogue.com/travel-tip...d-markets.html
There are other sites as well.

Here is some info on the mosque..

Muslim Restaurant de la Mosquée de Paris (tel. 01-43-31-18-14). The restaurant adjoins the courtyard of the mosque and is open daily from noon to 3pm and 7 to 10:30pm.

Thanks, jetset.

Turns out The Rose is right next door to my friend's apartment and she eats there all the time. So, we'll certainly be going.

Amy that is great - it was one of our favorite meals. We had 6 people - 4 "children" (18, 18, 15, and 11) with us so we were not looking for high end experiences.

We had a very good breakfast last week at Delmas (Top of Rue Mouffatard).
